Monday (02.23)
Forecasting Eruptions article, connect/reflect, and additional questions. Read the article first then begin answering the connect/reflect. When you encounter word or phrase you were unfamiliar with, enter it into this document. Discuss with the people in your group the connection(s) that were made between the article and stats & data then report out.
Tuesday (02.24)
Quiz on two-way data tables then spent the remainder of time reviewing how to determine the best fitting function.
Wednesday (02.25)
Quiz on determining the best fitting function then begin working with polynomials. Introduce polynomial vocabulary (polynomial, monomial, binomial, trinomial, leading coefficient, degree of polynomial, factors). Begin with basic operations of addition and subtraction focusing on combining like terms. You work in pairs or groups of three to complete the add/subtract problems generated during class.
Thursday (02.26)
Multiplication of polynomials - the box method - is just the distributive property. Begin with review of distributive property of monomial and binomial then move to binomial and binomial. Practice with a little game play. Student gets a die - the number they roll will indicate which polynomial they will use in the problem.
Friday (02.27)
Quiz on determining the best fitting function if you didn't score a 10/10 on Wednesday's quiz. Continue with operations on polynomials. Include combining polynomial products.
